Cancellation Policies & Fees

Here at ACT Lung and Sleep in the Australian Capital Territory, we have cancellation policies and late fees in place, for all appointment bookings. See below for our standard appointment fees.

SMS Reminder Policy

A reminder SMS will be sent three working days prior to your appointment. Please reply to confirm your appointment or call reception to reschedule. 

Failure to reply within 48 hours of your appointment will result in your appointment being cancelled and offered to patients that are on the waiting list.

All patients without mobile phones or who prefer landline contact will be contacted at the same intervals by admin staff. If you cannot attend or no longer need an appointment, please ring us in advance so that we can offer the appointment to other patients in need.

In order to provide quality health care services, bulk billing is NOT available in general.

Medicare and Third-Party Health Funds

The cost of consultations and outpatient medical investigations may be partially subsidised by Medicare, if you have following:

  1. A valid Medicare card in your name

  2. A valid referral from your GP or specialist, that has their provider number clearly stated.

At your appointment you will be issued with an invoice, and payment on the day is required. You may then present this invoice/receipt to Medicare to receive rebate. 

If your bank account details are registered with Medicare, we can lodge a claim on your behalf on the spot. The remittance will be sent straight to your bank account within 1-2 days. You do not need to do anything further. 

LATE Cancellation Policy

When you book your appointment, you are holding a space on our calendar that is no longer available to our other patients. In order to be respectful of other patients, please contact us as soon as you know you will not be able to make your appointment. If cancellation is necessary, we respectfully request that you call at least two working days in advance.

 

Our specialists are a highly regarded respiratory and sleep specialist in Canberra and regional New South Wales, and therefore, appointments are in high demand. Your advanced notice will allow another patient access to that appointment time.

 

All appointment cancellations are required to be given a minimum of two working days prior to your appointment or you may incur a late cancellation fee of $100.

Did Not Attend Fees (DNA)

All appointments where a patient has not attended, and where the patient has not advised of cancellation within two business days, will incur a fee of $100. This fee will be payable at reception or over the phone. 

The $100 Did Not Attend fee needs to be paid prior to booking any subsequent appointments.
